National Correctional Officer and Employee Appreciation Week
This morning Mayor Kevin Cole presented a Proclamation to the Pearland PD Jail Staff declaring the week of May 1 - 7, 2022 as National Correctional Officer and Employee Appreciation Week as follows:
"Whereas, Correctional Officers have the difficult and often dangerous assignment of ensuring the custody, safety and well-being of the inmates at the Pearland Jail, and
Whereas, the position of Correctional Officers and employees are essential to the day-to-day operations of these situations - without them, it would be impossible to achieve the foremost institutional goals of security and control, and
Whereas, the roles of Correctional Officers and employees are increasingly complex and demanding, being called to fill, simultaneously, custodial, supervisory, and counseling roles, and
Whereas, the professionalism, dedication, and courage exhibited by these officers throughout the performance of these demanding and often conflicting roles deserves our utmost respect, and
Whereas, National Correctional Officer and Employee Appreciation Week provides an opportunity to celebrate our employees who often have isolated and misunderstood positions in prisons and jails.
Now, Therefore, I Kevin Cole, by the power vested in me as The Mayor of The City of Pearland, Texas, Do Hereby Proclaim this week of May 1 - 7, 2022 as NATIONAL CORRECTIONAL OFFICER AND EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION WEEK"
