RISE Mentoring through Pearland ISD's RISE program
Connor is a sophomore student at Pearland High School and has a mentor through Pearland ISD's RISE program. When he was first matched with his mentor, Mr. Tulloch, he was experiencing frustration in the absence of his father and was struggling with behaviors that concerned his mom. Immediately after they began meeting every week, Connor started showing more interest in school, looking forward to it. As the weeks went by, his confidence grew and he felt cared for. Mr. Tulloch gave Connor the gift of his own time and their relationship continues to grow strong every week.
Like Mr. Tulloch, you can also make a positive impact on the life of a student. Learn how to become a RISE Mentor at

RISE Mentoring is a school-based program in which committed, caring adults from the community help students rise above obstacles and succeed in school and life.
Reach – To gain the trust of young people, you have to be willing to reach them by knowing their world.
Inspire – As a mentor, you need to be a role model for kids.
Support – Be committed to the cause. Be present and show up. Your mentee needs to know you are unconditionally there for him or her.
Empower – Help kids see more, want more and be more than they ever thought was possible.
