Asynchronous remote learning day for spring semester
Pearland Independent School District recently adjusted the 2020-21 school calendar converting one Friday per month to include four asynchronous remote learning days for the spring semester. The changes will allow for additional teacher planning and student support.
The dates for asynchronous remote learning were determined taking into consideration the input of a committee that included parents and staff.
The remainder of the asynchronous remote learning dates for Pearland ISD are:
Friday, March 26
Friday, April 23
Student behavior expectations for remote learning include:
All students (remote and on-campus learners) grade PK-12 must participate in asynchronous instruction.
Student must log in to Learning Management System and complete daily assignments by 11:59 p.m.
Students may contact teachers during specific office hours.

The adjustment to the calendar comes as a result of the board passing a resolution requesting state consideration to use asynchronous only instruction to count toward the state’s attendance requirements for instructional minutes. During a statewide superintendent’s meeting, Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath recognized Dr. John Kelly, Pearland ISD Superintendent, for bringing forth this idea.
