The Pearland Council of PTAs’ Swap Shop/Community Closet
The Pearland Council of PTAs’ Swap Shop/Community Closet will be open on Tuesday, September 15. Parents may donate/exchange gently-used clothes for their children to wear to school.
How does it work?
There are 4 ways to participate:
*Swap – bring in your gently used school clothing, shoes, backpacks, and lunch kits, and “swap” for new-to-you items. It’s a great way to save money and get refreshed or larger sizes for your Pearland ISD student.
*Donate – Donate your gently used items! They are always in need of donated items to provide to kids in need right here in our district. Your donation may be tax deductible, and a tax receipt is available for all donations.
*Voucher - A voucher allows families in need to get donated items from the Shop. If you or someone you know is in need of some help from the Shop, you may obtain a voucher directly from your child’s school by contacting your school nurse, counselor, or principal.
*Volunteer - Volunteers are always needed! The Swap Shop is run by volunteers from PTAs throughout the district, and they always appreciate any extra help!
Acceptable Clothing Guidelines:
*They accept PISD standardized dress code clothing: solid-color polo or t- shirts, solid-color pants or jeans (no white), jumpers, skirts/skorts, shorts (for elementary grades only), belts (no big chains or logos), jackets, and sweaters.
*They also accept lunch kits, backpacks, and new or gently-worn shoes.
*All clothes should be free of stains (including ink, marker, or pencil marks), and should be washed and neatly folded with no missing buttons, tears or any other flaws to the fabric.
*Socks and underwear must be new in unopened package.
*Belts can only be swapped for belts.
* A Swap Shop/Community Closet representative has authority to accept or reject any items.
The Community Closet/Swap Shop is located near the PACE Center at 2314 Old Alvin Rd in the portable building at the end of the drive.
