Local nursing home outbreak
Brazoria County is reporting 40 new COVID-19 cases today, 5/17/20. 2 of the new cases today are TDCJ inmates.
We are saddened to report the death of the Terrell Unit inmate from today's cases-prayers go out to the family.
33 of today's cases are residents of Windsong Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Pearland and 5 cases today are employees of Windsong. 1 case is from Creekside Village Nursing Home Facility in Clute.
Wow, 40 in one day is our new high for a daily count. We had 37 in one day back in April when we were supposed to be peaking. Since most of this is from the nursing home it seems to be isolated, but it's still scary. I'm praying for all of the residents and employees of the Windsong.
Brazoria County is reporting 8 recoveries and 19 new COVID-19 cases today, 5/18/20. 3 of the new cases today are TDCJ inmates. 6 cases are from Windsong Nursing Home Facility and 1 case is from Tuscany Village Nursing Home Facility both facilities are in Pearland.
Nursing homes are pretty much a closed environment. If one infected employee came in to work, they would expose everyone they came in contact with. If you are symptom free, you could expose them without even knowing. Many older people have weak immune systems. At least it isn't a New York situation. Como is being accused of sending infected people and people who tested positive into nursing homes to work.
