Pearland launches first park and ride service! Glad I don't have to use this but seems kinda expensive🤷‍♀️ But it is a coach bus!

Buses leave from Sports Complex at Shadow Creek Ranch , with 350 free parking spaces. Riders will pay $6.50 each way, about $65 a week, $260 a month.

@Joyful3422 : Maybe is a good service for the west side residents not so much for neighbors living near old Pearland . Just saying

@Inb0913 : This is a trial. If it goes well, they may add a stop on the east side, but they need to see how much use this gets. It is right now great for west side people who work at the Medical center and there are alot of those. It doesn't really help me because it really only runs at rush hour which is why I wanted a train down 288. Oh, well. It's a start.

The cost, btw, is exactly the same as all the other park and ride buses from other suburbs.

@Dorothy : I'm with you would like a train, not only on 288 but around the city . Of course something like that will cost taxpayers lots of money

It is expensive but that is the price of convenience. How often does it run?

Only thing I see on the site is:

The service will begin each day at 5:45 - 9:30 a.m. and will provide return service to Pearland beginning at 3 p.m. each day with the last bus leaving downtown Houston at or about 6:45 p.m. Kerrville at its discretion, can change or amend the schedule as deemed appropriate with consultation from the City.

It looks like it is going well according to the Pearland Journal. Ridership is increasing every day.

In May 2018, City Council members approved the bus program with Coach USA owned-Kerrville Bus Co. for a three-year period with the option to extend, if necessary. Branson said the agreement is for the city to provide the parking area and the company to pay the cost of buses and drivers.

There is an article in the Downtown Houston Street Closings & Special Events E-Letter today.
It'll probably get more from that.

@Elb001 : My problem with it is the timing. It is made for commuting not really for people who want to just go down to the museums or to shop. They may expand though if this gets a lot of use. I still want a train though which is what I was used to in Illinois. I could be downtown to Chicago in 1/2 hour any time of the day or night on my *el* trains and pretty much anytime during the day on the commuter rail.
