A 60-year-old Pearland resident has been arrested on multiple charges after he admitted to recording a young female relative while she was in the shower.
According to reports from the Pearland Police Department, Kenneth Johnson (60, Pearland) was arrested last week on two counts of Indecency with a Child and another count of Invasive Visual Recording in a Bathroom.
The case was brought to the attention of PPD at the end of 2018 when victim advocates from the
Brazoria County Alliance for Children (BCAC) called and asked detectives to investigate outcry interviews they conducted with a group of siblings.
According to their statements, Johnson was in the bathroom recording/photographing a young (under 15) female relative while she was in the shower. At some point, one of the victim's younger siblings witnessed the suspect doing this. They later disclosed this information to another older sibling, who then investigated the matter further by looking at Johnson's cell phone. The older sibling found videos of the victim in the shower on the suspect's phone and decided to record the evidence on their own phone to show authorities. During one of the interviews, the victim disclosed that Johnson had recorded her in the shower on several occasions throughout the last year.
After hearing the allegations and conducting an initial investigation, Detective Despain from PPD's People Crimes Division decided to bring the suspect in for an interview. During the interview, Johnson admitted to recording the victim on more than one occasion. Johnson's electronic devices were then seized as evidence.
Once investigators had everything in order, an arrest warrant was issued for Johnson. He surrendered to Pearland Police without incident.
A tip-o-the-cap to not only Detective DeSpain, PPD and the BCAC for their diligent work on this case, but also to the kids for having the courage to get authorities involved. Great work, everyone!
