Anyone have issues with mail delivery lately?

I understand that things are getting busy, but we're receiving "Delivered" notifications, and no packages or mail, and on a couple of occasions, the packages were 'Returned Undeliverable' because they couldn't get to my door (which is 15 feet from the main road with absolutely no obstructions.

I heard that the deliverer is pressured to deliver quickly (because Amazon and others insist), but they can't meet the required delivery, so they flag it as delivered for the seller, and then get it delivered when they get around to it.

Anyone have any insight on this? I would be understanding if it's just that they're overwhelmed, but right now I'm confused and angry.

People in Silverlake and Silvercreek have been complaining about these types of problems for months, so I don't think it's just a holiday thing. They've been filing complaints with the Postmaster.

This helps, it is to sign up for informed delivery from the USPS. You get a notification every day via email of images of anything coming to your mailbox, and package information. It helped curb all our problems.

Also, UPS has the ability to sign up for notifications for anything being shipped to or from your residential address.

@rmavery : This makes a lot of sense, I think this is right. A few years ago I was expecting my last purchase pretty close to Christmas. On the delivery day I got one of those unable to deliver package notices (something about the lock on the lock box being broken...but it was not) and that I should pick it up at the post office. Went to the post office and they said no they didn't have it, it was probably on the truck and I would get it today. She also told me that those Amazon delivered notices just mean that the package has arrived at their post office and not necessarily that it will be delivered to my home that day.

@rmavery : Problems have been intermittent since moving to Silverlake sixteen years ago. This week I've had other people's mail mixed with mine everyday. I'm quite certain some of mine is mixed with other people's mail also.

The one I don't understand is... I look at the tracking and it says out for delivery. Then I get a notice that it has been delivered and is ready for pickup at the post office, but no notice in my mailbox. What's up with that? The post office is frustrating me with my Christmas shopping.

@jrkbird : Thanks. We are signed up for informed delivery. This is where we've seen what we were supposed to get, and have not been getting. :-| . The problem we are experiencing is that there is nobody to contact when it does occur. You have to physically go to the post office (during their hours, during which I am at work). I've actually done this once, and my wife has also. Both times they said "We'll see what we can do." but nothing has changed.

@rmavery : If you log in online, you can select mail pieces as not received. I did this daily for a few weeks and every single time, within the week, it was in the mailbox. Some very, very important documents (stepdaughter's first driver's license, my son's apprenticeship notices, class info, etc.) were done like this! It took a month to get the DL delivered, but I just kept checking that box!

@rmavery : My sister from Florida sent me a present from Florida for my birthday. It was suppose to be delivered Fri. But got here on Monday. So yes, issues. Postal service definitely has issues.

@DrewLundgren : Hopefully the people who get your mail are responsible and make sure you get it instead of just throwing it away.

@jrkbird : Thanks. I think my wife does that, but I thought it was like some cross walk buttons where it's just there to make you think someone is receiving it.

We get out of town newspapers and it is only printed once a week sometimes it takes two weeks to get a paper or sometimes it disappears. We get our neighbors mail and we live on white lane and the street at the back of the route is black lane and they mix up the mail the street numbers are the same. Our street white lane has three houses on it. They can't seem to get it done right. We have apartment style mail boxes.

Yes, it is first class mail too. I have not even gotten my email with the pictures of my mail and I have not hardly gotten any mail except junk mail. A friend mailed me a card on Nov 26th and it has never arrived. She mailed some to other folks too and the ones who live in Houston area have never gotten their either. The ones in other cities have. I mailed a business check to San Antonio it took 2 months to get there. They report packages delivered, they are not there, They say delivered in the postal until box, there is no key and 2 days later they are on my porch instead. They put mail in the wrong box even though my box has a post card taped in it with my address....mail goes to my neighbors on my street and on OTHER streets. The Pearland PO is horrible. I NEVER had mail issues in my entire life until I moved here. And there is nobody to complain to except the ones causing it. Fox guarding the hen house. There should be a state or regional person to complain to. And now there seems to be a delivery issue out of the Houston PO depository in North Houston...it is the ONLY one now. ALL mail goes thru it for the entire Houston area. So now THEY seems to be having an issue with processing stuff thru to the local Post Offices. It is the entire city now. I can't believe there has been no news stories done. And they want to raise postage another 5 cents. They complain their business has dropped so they have to raise rates. The most inefficient, wasteful, non-customer oriented, sloppy program out there. The proud history of the USPS has been dead for a LONG time. All you get is the run around with no recourse. OH, and the postmaster there will claim they never receive complaints....because they only count official complaints sent in thru the formal online process and nobody takes time to go do that.
