Concrete paving operations for the Fire Station # 1 site will take place on Monday, July 30, 2018, beginning at 2:00 am. Fire Station is located at 1571 Old Alvin at McHard Road. C.A. Walker, the City's contractor, will conduct the paving operations from approximately 2:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The paving work will consist of pouring the driveways and parking lot on the site. The paving operations may require brief intermittent traffic stoppages on McHard Road just east of Old Alvin to allow concrete trucks to enter and exit the work zone. The concrete work will be for the driveways and parking lot for the new Fire Station #1 that is currently under construction. The completed work will allow access for the fire engines and staff that will be stationed at the facility. The concrete trucks will travel along SH 35 from the Sam Houston Beltway, turn east onto McHard Road and enter the site from McHard Rd. There will be no trucks traveling on residential/neighborhood streets. Project activities are weather permitting and subject to change. Drivers should be aware of heavy equipment and construction personnel in the vicinity of the work site, and be prepared for the possibility of minor delays due to the construction work. This work however, will not interfere with access to any surrounding properties or businesses. Please obey all construction zone signs and flaggers.
