Two Houston teenagers are now in the
Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center in Angleton after they robbed a victim at gunpoint in Pearland and fled in a stolen vehicle.
According to reports from PPD, on Friday, April 27, around 3:20 PM, a call came into 9-1-1 about an armed robbery that had just taken place at the HEB on Pearland Parkway. The female victim was walking in the parking lot of the HEB when a young black male, armed with a handgun, approached her. He took her purse, got into a black Toyota Camry (which had at least one more occupant) and sped off.
"The victim flagged down a witness who was driving by at the same time," said Pearland Police spokesman Jason Wells. "She got in their vehicle, told the male driver what had happened and the two drove off in pursuit of the Camry."
The suspects were able to elude the victim and witness when they pulled into the Green Tee subdivision. But thanks to their great description and watchful eye, Pearland PD was able to flood the area with patrol vehicles and relocated the Camry a short distance away near the Beltway and Blackhawk Blvd.
Pearland PD tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspects led them on a brief pursuit. They eventually stopped the car and attempted to run on foot. The passenger, a 15-year-old hispanic female from Houston, was caught immediately. After searching the area, the driver, a 16-year-old black male from Houston, was located as well.
According to John Cannon of the Houston Police Department, the 2015 black Toyota Camry used in the robbery was reported stolen a week before out of Houston. The victim was a 30-year-old male who had just parked his car and was headed into his apartment in the middle of the day when a young black male surprised him. He pointed a handgun at him and demanded his car keys and wallet. The victim complied and the suspect drove off.
The carjacking victim's description matched that of the suspect in custody.
Both cases are still being investigated.
