Pearland Police arrested a 28-year-old La Marque man after he led them on a 40-mile pursuit Tuesday evening.
According to reports from the
Pearland Police Department, on March 20th, 2018, PPD officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle (green Jeep Grand Cherokee) parked near the Busy Bee Café (4000 block of Broadway).
Witnesses indicated that the vehicle was involved in some sort of narcotic activity. As officers approached the vehicle the driver sped off heading west on Broadway. Officers pursued the suspect for approximately 40 miles and along several highways for nearly an hour. At several points officers from Pearland Police Department as well as other agencies attempted to deploy spike strips. The driver evaded all attempts by driving around the strips.
The pursuit ultimately ended when the suspect exited his vehicle and ran into a home in the 2800 block of John St in La Marque. The suspect, later identified as Charles Ray Forrest III (28, La Marque), was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle (State Jail Felony).
At this time the investigation will be continued by the Patrol Division of Pearland Police Department.
