Police Chief Spires sent out this message today, stating that fallen PPD Officer Endy Ekpanya's name would officially be a permanent part of a section of FM 518/Broadway in Pearland.
"On April 12, 2017 I had the privilege of providing testimony in support of Representative Ed Thompson's HB 938 which was introduced to rename a portion of FM 518 in honor of fallen Pearland PD Officer Endy Ekpanya. On Monday September 11, 2017 I was honored to be present when the bill was signed into Law. The signing was part of the 2017 Star of Texas Award ceremony. The Star of Texas Award honors peace officers, firefighters, and emergency medical first responders seriously injured or killed in the line of duty. I would like to thank Representative Thompson for introducing the legislation, Senator Larry Taylor for co-sponsoring and all those who lent their support so that Endy's name would become a permanent part of the City of Pearland." ~ J. L. Spires, Chief of Police
