Pearland Police K9 Nodi was extra busy last night tracking down some kids who thought it'd be good idea to run from the police. And just for the record...That's never a good idea!
Some of you may remember Nodi from a recent story about him and his handler, Officer Griffith, graduating from the Houston K9 Academy with other PPD officers.
You can read about it here!!
The excitement for Nodi kicked off around 2AM this morning when he was called out to assist in tracking a suspect near the Cold River Ranch Subdivision. According to reports, PPD Officer Delgado approached a suspicious vehicle parked in the neighborhood at a mailbox cluster. Knowing there had been multiple complaints of vehicle break-ins in the area, he believed the vehicle’s occupants may be involved in criminal activity. As Officer Delgado tried to make contact, the vehicle fled and subsequently crashed into two vehicles parked at two different residences. The three occupants of the vehicles fled on foot. Officers arrived in the area, with Manvel PD and BCSO assisting with a perimeter. One suspect was taken into custody immediately. Officer Griffith and Nodi were able to track and apprehend the second suspect. The driver of the vehicle identified the outstanding suspect, who was taken into custody at his residence a short distance away from the initial location where the foot pursuit started.

About an hour after that fun ended, Nodi and Griffith were quickly dispatched to a wooded area off Dixie Farm Rd to try and find a DWI suspect who had crashed her car. Around 3AM, Ofc. K. Love conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3400 block of Dixie Farm Rd. As he was speaking to the driver, she suddenly put the vehicle in drive and sped away from the officer northbound on Dixie Farm Rd. Ofc. Love and Ofc. J. Pina pursued the vehicle, which crashed into a fence a short ways down the road. The suspect then fled on foot from the crash into a heavily wooded area on the east side of the roadway. A perimeter was set up, and Ofc. Griffith and K9 Nodi made the scene and began to track into the woods. They were again successful and the suspect was located and arrested a short time later.

A tip-of-the-cap to Nodi and Officer Griffith for their extra effort last night. Great job!
