A little luck and good communication between agencies was all it took to put a dangerous motorcycle rider in cuffs after a brief pursuit.
On Sunday, August 6, 2017, around 9:40PM, a Pearland Police officer initiated a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the 7100 block of Magnolia Rd. As the motorcycle came to a stop and the officer began to approach, the driver suddenly accelerated away from the officer at a high rate of speed traveling southbound along Manvel Rd. The officer began to chase the motorcycle, but ultimately terminated the pursuit due to safety issues...The driver had turned off the motorcycle’s lights and was reaching speeds in excess of 90 mph.
However, shortly after terminating the pursuit, Dispatch advised that Manvel PD had the suspect stopped at a gas station at Highway 6 and SH 288. The motorcycle had apparently blown the rear tire.
The Pearland officer arrived on scene and positively identified the male driver and took him into custody. He was identified as Nicholas Jordan Williams (23, Pearland). Williams was charged with Evading Arrest With Vehicle, a state jail felony, as well as Driving With Invalid License.
No injuries or damage to equipment were reported.
