Pearland Boy Drowns In Golf Cart Accident
"It's one of those cases that just sticks with you," said a somber Lt. Snelgrove as he went over the details of an 11-year-old Pearland boy who lost his life over the weekend.
On June 10th, around 8 p.m., 11 year old Harrison Chase Brown was driving a golf cart near a pond on the property at the 5000 block of County Road 880, also known as McKnight Road. According to Lt. Varon Snelgrove, BCSO, "The property was secured with a locked gate and fencing. It appeared the boy drove the golf cart, at a high rate of speed, around the back part of the pond, and cut the corner of the embankment. The golf cart proceeded to continue forward into the pond, trapping the boy underneath. The boy's father, was waiting for him to return from feeding the animals for a neighbor that was out of town. When he did not return, the father went to find him, which is where he discovered his son underneath the golf cart in the pond. Upon finding him, the father pulled him out and immediately started CPR until paramedics arrived. Harrison was transported by life flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased after arduous attempts to revive him."
There were no obvious signs of foul play and an autopsy will be performed to identify the official cause of death.
