I grew up eating sandwiches on Wonder Bread! All white bread with no nutrients.

When my kids were little, I saved the end slices of bread in the freezer. When we had hamburgers, I would cut "buns" out of those slices for the kids. They were thinner, so easier for them to eat, and I could make them just the right size. Left over edges made bread crumbs.

When I was small my mom bought only white bread. It was called Blue Ribbon. She never made garlic bread.

Same, and to this day I prefer bread over any buns.

My first husband grew up on a farm with 5 siblings, and sliced white bread, with butter, was a part of every meal. I guess the bread helped fill those tummies without too much expense!

Love wonder bread. Used to pull crust off and make bread balls and dip in butter when I was a kid. Carbaholic😁

@NJ99221 : Well, yes, there was. When my kids were little, I made most of our bread, and it was not white. IF we bought bread, it was a whole wheat or at least whole grain. They would not eat white bread. Of course they also didn't eat cake frosting, or jelly, or any kind of peanut butter except what came from the organic co-op we belonged to.

@CPres : Yes I do remember making bread balls by rub in my hands. I would pop into my mouth. Never dipped in butter.

Our family of 7 kids had day-old white bread from Mrs Baird bakery shop in the Heights, Houston.
Mother would buy several loaves and freeze them.
Emoticon On Sunday evening I would make school lunch sandwiches for the week.
I didn't like them.

We had the day old Hostess factory, we went there about once a month and froze most of it. I still prefer grilled cheese on white.
