Houston in stage 1 of drought contingency plan, hopefully it will rain and it will not come to Pearland. I'm worried of ground shifting effecting foundations and sprinkler systems lines which are very easy to crack. I'm trying to make sure the foundation gets area gets watered frequently.

My post from yesterday has the voluntary restrictions the City of Houston is asking us to follow:

During Stage One conservation, residents are asked to limit outdoor watering to twice a week between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. under the following schedule:

Sundays and Thursdays are reserved for single-family residential customers with even-numbered street addresses.
Saturday and Wednesdays are reserved for the same customers, but with odd-numbered street addresses.
Tuesdays and Fridays are for all other customers.
Water restrictions are currently voluntary.

@Stealth83: I hadn't thought of that but you're right, it's possible.

@Patty18 : Under your circumstances, water! While you still have grass left to nurse back to health. The restrictions are volunteer, and so far just for Houston, not Pearland.
I'm glad to hear you at least have the problem resolved and have water again.

If you hand wash or rinse pans, bowls etc save that water into another container and put on trees plants. . If you have that drip line for your air conditioner commning out the house, catch it in a barrel,and put a bit of.cooking oil in it so mosquitoes cant fly . Water with this water.

Trust me, folks, after all those years in Dallas, we want to conserve while it's voluntary, to stave off when it's a requirement!

@CPres : The other day here where I live in Pearland the water company was going through the complex opening up the fire hydrants and letting them run for about 30 min probably wasting millions of gallons of water. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it.

@wyldbill : I know they do that for a reason, but it does sound a bit odd. When I first moved to the Houston area I was amazed by the municipal water leaks that were allowed to go on, and on, and on, for days. That, and the public fountains that just ran. Such an abundance.

@Blackbird : The fountains don't bother me as much, because the water is re-circulated and also I have seen birds flying in to drink from them. If you are talking about public drinking fountains, ugh! That is something that needs to be fixed.
