@cocosmom : I'd have been unruly long before 2 weeks, my idea of hell! Cramped up, prison food, no working toilets. A nice Viking river cruise looks so good, but first you have to get there. Yeah, I could just float down the Mississippi River, but I want to see the south of France.

@Blackbird : Have you looked at the size of the closets, uh, I mean rooms on those Viking Cruise boats? You might think twice about that. Oh, and the bathrooms are tiny.

@susieq : The only cruise I was ever on was on a Windjammer sailing ship built in the early 1900s. You could sit on the toilet and touch all 4 walls, and the shower head was simply in the ceiling, you closed the door and it was a shower!
Now, as I've gotten older I require a bit more luxury; a mattress under me not just ground, camping but with running water, etc. But I'd envision sitting out on my balcony watching the scenery more than holing up in the cabin. Still, that's still something to worry about further down the line.

Went on Carnival cruise in Dec 21 and next week 12 day carnival cruise around Europe. Cleaning protocols were excellent!

@Gerkd45 : I have a friend who lives in Great Britain. Her husband is/was an entertainer on those cruises. Since COVID, he is now teaching driver's ed in London. Maybe if the cruise industry gets going again, he can get back to that job. I think teaching driving in London would be way harder than trying to teach it in Houston. She loves going with him on trips.

@susieq : Alaska was on my bucket list, to cruise. But, like you I've become a clean freak. I love to fish and you could take a 2 day deep fishing tour. Had to give that bucket item up.

@cocosmom : Nope, won't be doing that one either. I look at campgrounds, and if they don't have full hookups, I just pass them by.

We just came back from a 10 day Alaska cruise on the Carnival Miracle roundtrip San Francisco. It was awesome. I do take Clorox wipes and clean the cabin myself before doing anything else. Had a great trip! Highly recommend Alaska if you've never been, this was our second time (first was on Holland America many years ago).

@Stealth83 : My sister has already gone 4 or 5 times from Galveston and Florida since they started up again and has a couple coming up...no issues.
