You have made several mistakes already. But all may be recovered from. Between the seller and inspector they have liability. But both will attack the credibility of the plumber.
He advise and consul will save you 61,000.00. He may take the 400.00.

This is an outright, intentional scam, on the part of the agent/owner and the inspector. Your agent knew about the bill, it's her's and she owes it, plus the inspector is either brain dead, or knew about the problems and lied to you. To be licensed, both have insurance against this sort of failure.

My dear Patty, someone knew about the issue with the plumbing. Someone had to know. I would search the inspector back ground to see if he is related to the realtor/owner. Which I would think is a conflict of interest of the buyer. ( YOU)

@NJ99221: my stomach has not only flipped! but I have lost my food many times, and a breakdown Friday night! I've pulled myself together and determined to get thru this and find who is knowledgeable of the problem. My agent finally spoke with Maggie McFarland and I know know the plumber she used. Will contact him next week.
