WISH BOOK Today, I got my edition of a "wish book." The new Burpee Seed Catalog came. There are so many new things I want to try! Some new tomato varieties, a type of corn that can be grown in a container, new peppers and cucumbers. Time to start planning, what will go where, and when. I really need to win the lotto, I sure could blow a major amount on seeds and plants. Guess I'll just be happy and plant my Sugar Snaps tomorrow.

@susieq : Planting by seed or seedlings?

@cocosmom : Some of these can only be had by planting from seeds. There is a Roma tomato variety I have to try. The fruits are supposed to weigh 2 pounds each! One tomato per jar. The way things go, each vine may only produce one tomato, but I am still going to try them.

Someone asked me on another thread have I always eaten weird things, I don't think so. We were talking, and came up with at least 3 vegetables I won't eat, and meat, well that is a whole different story. I am supposed to be getting more protein now, and that is a little hard for me to do. I don't like meat, and I don't like tofu.

I also plan to try the corn that can go in a large plant pot, I have not grown it in years because of the space it takes. I want to plant some burpless cukes AND some to pickle this year. I would love to plant some different pepper varieties, but I don't eat that many hot peppers so it would be a waste of space.

Like I said, I need a farm, just to try different things.

@susieq : I used to love looking though the Burpee seed catalogue! But I have never had much luck getting plants to grow from purchased seed packets.

@Juniebird : No, seeds don't germinate well for me. I try to buy seedlings as much as possible.

@Dorothy : Eggs are a great source of protein and are usually relatively inexpensive. You can add a fried egg or soft boiled egg or hard boiled egg to just about anything and improve its deliciousness by a lot!

One of my favorite quick and easy breakfasts is a fried egg (over easy) served over warm salsa with a handful of tortilla chips crushed up in it. Add some shredded cheese if you like. There's something about that runny egg yolk mixed into the tangy salsa that is so-oo good!
