We call ours Jarvis - after Iron Man's robotic electronic butler and jack of all trades.

My wife is bugging me to get her one for Christmas. I have a feeling it will end up not being used or destroyed by our dog and be a waste of $500. She wants it to pick up pet hair around the house. I'm afraid the dust bin isn't big enough for all the hair it would pick up and I have not heard good things about the self emptying models. I'm also concerned the rollers will get tangled up with my wife's long hair. I've heard that in order to be somewhat effective you have to have more than one robot. Does anyone have any experience or advise?

My friend has one that does her vacuuming and loves it. She recently got the one that mops the floor and loves that one too. Her dog doesn't bother it. I say yes get her one for Christmas.

I'm really not sure how much to spend, are the ones under $200 any good? The ones with decent ratings all seem to be over $500. I'm eyeballing the iRobot Roomba i7+.
