Target to keep stores closed on Thanksgiving for good
Target will no longer open its stores on Thanksgiving Day, making permanent a shift to the unofficial start of the holiday season that was suspended during the pandemic.

To limit crowds in stores, retailers last year were forced to turn what had become a weekend shopping blitz into an extended event, with big holiday discounts beginning as early as October.

I don't need someone to check me out for random junk from a Big Box store. Someone is certainly going to need police and fire services, not to mention medical.

I'm glad that stores are starting to close on holidays. People need to stay home and celebrate with family and friends. It's only one day that you can't go shopping. Remember when almost everything was closed on Sunday. Banks and auto dealerships still are closed.

@Stealth83 : It doesn't hurt anything. I feel that it would be great to have families spend more time together, which is greatly needed. Maybe there would be less violence with families together.

My family doesn't go out and shop on holidays.... There are quite a few other days of the year to
go out and shop... We seem to have more fun sharing good food and playing games or watching
a good show or football ( well forget football any more )... Spending time talking, and sharing family gossip
is fun,,, Laughter within family get togethers Is special.... anyone agree ???

@Megyn1 : I remember Tuesday and Thursday were the days stores would be open till 8 PM and we're closed on Sunday. Banks closed on Saturday and Sunday. I grew up in the north and this is what they did.
