Is anyone expecting Sars CoVID 2 to just poof, disappear?
I was always under the impression it would be a yearly, influenza type schedule of shots. I expect some form of this virus to be around for a WHILE.

@AngelaJooooones : no not with the current ROI of delta being 6 or 7 unless we find a type of medicine that lowers or stops that rate of transmission. Also the virus is mutation and changing daily so using the same medicines again and again will become un effective.

That doesn't mean we should get 10 shots to not prevent covid.

they are talking about flu shots here at work as well i actually can't see why with the ROI being 1(the flu) and tons of masks and hand washing going around. we are protecting against a virus that is 6 or 7x more transmissible.

just seems like they have no idea what they are doing.

Mother nature or China, whichever your political party is inclined to believe- really threw us a fast ball with this virus. No, I agree with you, it seems that no one knows what they are doing.
I'm no virologist so I'm not qualified to speak on any of what is going on. I too have both Modernas and intend to continue to wash my hands frequently, try not to touch my face, maintain physical distance from strangers, wear a mask in public places as well as take other precautions to keep myself and those I interact with healthy & well to the best of my ability...for the foreseeable future. I can only hope others will do the same but I understand for whatever reasons, that is not realistic.

@AngelaJooooones : hahaha well im trying to keep p*litics out of this as much as possible. none of them are making me any richer!
im not a virologist either but i do have common sense and critical thinking. personally i only wear N95 or ASTM level 3 masks like are used in the hospital.
As far as im concerned this is a new virus with many mutations and anyone is qualified to speak.
just remember the CDC suggested no mask, then mask, then2 masks( one cloth for some reason) but never said lets spend trillions on proper masks that we know work.

@damascus1986 : Emoticon
I don't plan on the 3rd shot/booster until further studies are done.
Until then I will take all precautions for covid-19.

@Txtoast : fair enough i believe in freedom.
we considered a 3rd but will only take from the same company as before.

might wait a bit with us already not in a age danger zone, taking vitamins and elderberry, having 2 shots already and wearing masks that move the needle daily.
we both work in healthcare so i consider exposure risks to be higher
still for all we know we both may have had it not felt anything and developed antibodies

So as far as I remember, the CDC didn't say NO MASKS, they said make your own masks and leave the manufactured masks for the health care professionals/front line workers who really need them, working with infected individuals.
Mask or masks, plural, were for the extra layer of protection making it that much more difficult to inhale the droplets flying around in there air. And yeah it was a crapshow. With so much information flying around no one knew WHAT to believe.
I hope you can continue to stay healthy and well in your occupation!

@AngelaJooooones :

March 24, 2020
Even as the coronavirus spreads across the United States - shutting down businesses, sporting events and schools - the CDC's advice around masking remains unequivocal: Healthy people who do not work in the healthcare sector and are not taking care of an infected person at home do not need to wear masks.

www.latimes.com/scie nce/story/2021-07-27 /timeline-cdc-mask-g uidance-during-

in some ways i agree with what you are saying they said but they also said healthy "americans do not need to wear them". Most americans will interpret this as "NO MASKS" as we saw. A home made or cloth mask is as good as no mask imo because of the size of the virus particles.

We shutdown factories to make ventilators but for some reason doing the same to make masks to slow the spread was not important. the virus still spears no matter if we work in healthcare or not. i mean spread amongst the community is what caused fear of overloading the hospitals . i guess my thoughts are why not protect everyone when we are capable i mean we've spent 10-12 trillion dollars now.

i appreciate your kind words we are doing our best hospital has opened up visitation to a higher level this week.
to your point it seems you me and others here are still looking at WHAT is right to believe. the messages are misconstrued and don't make definitive sense.

No. Just no. I am tired of being a science experiment. DD had both, isn't in the high risk age group, and guess what she came home with the other day? Yep, Covid. She has stayed upstairs, and got antibodies within 24 hours of diagnosis. Her temp has been normal for 24 hours now, but she is still isolating. I have changed my whole lifestyle, but am not going to start getting "vaccines" every few weeks. Maybe it is time for more research on viable treatment instead of prevention, because that seems to be a losing game.
