@Stealth83 : I think fuel would get expensive over time. With a class C. you have to bring your home with you all the time. For example the closest Walmart to big bend is 100 miles away. A trip into town would be much more expensive in the Class C vs a pickup. Also you can park the travel trailer and go exploring with your truck. Do you plan on towing a car with the Class C?

@Stealth83 : I think the biggest convenience with a Class C is not having to worry about towing and everything that comes with that.

We have a travel trailer now, but are talking about going to a Class C. I don't mind the towing, but I hate the hook up. As we get older, I think the C would be easier.

@susieq : Wow really ok good to know. My wife actually prefers a Class C, but I figured since we owned a pickup we would be better off with a travel trailer. Maybe I should rent a Class C for the weekend and see what its all about.

An electric jack makes it easier to get it hitched up, but then there are the chains, they are heavy, and can be a little hard to close in the hooks(I don't know the exact right words, just what I call them.) There is also the issue of removing the hitch and putting it back on. That thing is heavy, but if you ever leave it on and whap your leg on it once you will only put it on when needed. Ten years ago it was not an issue to close the hooks but could be pretty soon. Set up at a campground isn't hard, unless your are trying to level it in a pouring rain. Hydraulic lifts are more common now, and do make it easier. Having a built in generator makes life much easier. Worst case, if you can't find a camping spot, many stores will let you park in their parking lots. With a generator, you can have lights and ac. You really just need to look and see what works best for you.

@susieq : I see RVs in Walmart parking lots all the times, sometimes with inflatable pools for the kids. I always wonder where they get all that water.

@Blackbird : Walmart and Sam's will usually let you park overnight. The proper way is to go in and ask the manager on duty and ask him where would be a good place out of the store's way. The only time I have heard of people being turned away was if there was not a large enough parking lot, or maybe in a high crime area and the store does not want to risk responsibility.

@Stealth83 : What did you look at? My SIL just bought a 35 foot Class C for her and her dogs, and she also loves it. When we bought, we looked and compared prices. I found the same thing, but $3,000 less at Barry in Louisiana. I talked to the people here, they wouldn't lower the price, I told them fine, I didn't mind driving to save that amount of money. They matched the price.
