As of 3 am the fires are out. They are still foaming and watering down the tanks to prevent reigniting of the tanks. Only smoke and steam.......there is an end! Yeah!!

A specialty firefighting team from Louisiana was brought in to battle the fire, and used foam and water, ITC officials said.

Really - with all the plants we have here..........why don't we have specialty firefighters? That's sad!!

@Stealth83 : If they had the specialty firefighters they wouldn't need any to come here; unless they don't have the equipment. The facility I work for has a fire brigade team that goes through yearly training - actually putting out fires at a training facility. The equipment, fire trucks, is what is expensive!! I'm just glad the fire is out and hopefully nothing reignites!!

@Stealth83 : You are correct in that these chemicals are used by everyone of us every day. Any ladies on here that have their nails done or have the acrylic / gel / nails? Toulene is one of the chemicals in one of the tanks that was on fire - Toulene is used in making / forming these powders/liquids.

I am very glad it was extinguished.

Apparently, it may have started from a tank overheating and the safety mechanism not being able to shut it off.

The one at the Shell Plant in Deer Park did not actually happen. They had a shelter in place as a precaution, but the air quality never got bad and there were no fires.
