Road Widening Public Meeting In PearlandThe City of Pearland, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District will hold a public meeting regarding the proposed widening improvements along Smith Ranch Road from Hughes Ranch Road to north of FM 518. The meeting will be held Feb. 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Challenger Elementary School Cafeteria, 9434 Hughes Ranch Road, in Pearland. The meeting will be held in an open house format and no formal presentation will be made.The purpose of the proposed project is to improve mobility and connections of the existing roadway. Proposed improvements include the following:- Widen the roadway from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided urban roadway- Add a 10-foot-wide shared use path on the west side of Smith Ranch Road This construction will take place within the existing roadway alignment of Smith Ranch Road; however, additional right of way will be required. The proposed improvements are consistent with local plans and growth patterns for the area; therefore, the project itself would not cause significant impacts to planned growth for the area.All interested citizens are invited to attend this public meeting.
