Public Open House - Project Q&A

The City is moving forward with the design and construction of the Linwood/E. Orange/Old Alvin Reconstruction Project. An informal public informational meeting for the project will be held to provide an opportunity to ask questions and view exhibits. After a brief presentation, the project overview, preliminary alignment, and cross sections for these improvements will be available for viewing. Design engineers, project management representative, and City of Pearland staff will be available to answer questions about project improvements.

This project is part of the overall street reconstruction project in the Capital Improvement Program that consists of the rehabilitation, reconditioning and reconstruction of non-TIP funding eligible collector streets throughout the City. The specific streets are based on priorities derived through the Thoroughfare Plan, the Condition Assessment Program, traffic counts and types of traffic loads that roadway sees. The specific activity selected for each roadway may vary with the objective to maintain or improve the current average assessment score city-wide.

In 2015, Pearland City Council was presented with the results of the Rights of Way Assessment Program Study which showed the current pavement condition index (PCI) rating score to be at 76/100. To maintain the current score of 76 requires an annual investment of $3.75 million. This recurring portion of the pavement program will focus on the reconstruction of the streets identified in the Assessment as requiring reconstruction. The other portion of the program will focus on the maintenance of streets through the operating budget.
